Alexandre Vaz (Alex Vaz) is a guitarist, music producer, songwriter, and professional sound editor whose career spans more than two decades across music, film, and television.

Between 2004 and 2014, Vaz was the guitarist for Brazil’s hip-hop icon Marcelo D2, performing at major global music festivals including Rock in Rio, Montreux Jazz Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Roskilde, Lollapalooza, and Nice Jazz Festival. His performances reached audiences at world-renowned venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, the Troubadour in Los Angeles, The Fillmore in Miami, and The Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York.

Throughout his career, Vaz has performed and collaborated with influential artists and producers including Mario Caldato Jr., Caetano Veloso, Jorge Ben Jor, Seu Jorge, David Byrne, Will.i.am, Aloe Blacc, Marcos Valle, Anthony Roth Costanzo, the New York Philharmonic, Justin Vivian Bond, Mauro Refosco, Marisa Monte, Bebel Gilberto, Roberta Sá, and many others. As a songwriter and composer, he has created music across genres with artists such as Lulu Santos, Nando Reis, Kassin, Toni Garrido, Fernanda Abreu, and Philippe Baden Powell. His song “Luz e Breu” was recorded by Milton Nascimento.

In 2007, alongside Mauro Berman and Lourenço Monteiro, he co-founded the band Cabeza de Panda, where he emerged as a vocalist while producing two albums and composing original soundtracks for Brazilian television series As Canalhas and Copa Hotel.

In recent years, Vaz has expanded his work into film and television sound editing and audio post-production, contributing to award-winning and internationally released projects. His credits include The Barber of Little Rock (Academy Award Nominee), Give Me the Ball, Harry & Meghan, Eat the Rich: The GameStop Saga, I Am Vanessa Guillen, Number One on the Call Sheet, Sally, Hip Hop Homicides, Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York, and Uyra: The Rising Forest, among others.
